I photographed the Oregon Coast for the first time two weeks ago during a road trip with a few friends. The morning I took this at Seal Rocks State Park the full moon was setting at nearly the same time the sun was rising. As I composed this shot of the tidepools a brown heron entered the frame. It was an amazing morning to say the least. I later even saw a seal on a rock.
This image was taken within a few seconds of one I posted on ESS. The heron had moved just a little bit on this one. The possibilities for images at places like this are endless and I'm already looking forward to the day I can go back. Comments appreciated.

I absolutely love the blues balanced with the grays of the rocks and the reds in the sky. Stunning colors and clarity. Just plain gorgeous!

Very beautiful Josh. The Heron really takes this up a notch.
Yeah, the heron and the moon really keep my eyes moving around this one and make it way better than a typical tranquil (i.e. boring) seascape. I also like the way you've completely separated the sea stacks from the foreground rocks. The whitewater in the stacks adds some dynamism too. I really like this shot!

Beautiful subtle colours in this image Joshua, exposure is really nice on the fg - the heron isn't lost in shadows etc. Really nice image!.

Thanks for the comments. Here is a slightly tweaked version since the saturation looks a bit hotter on this version than I anticipated. Darkened the foreground slightly too.
Josh--
As Don said--"Just plain gorgeous". Too my eye, I actually like the first image a little more as the rocks are a bit lighter and I like that look. But, the heron in the photo, just takes it to another level. Timing is everything!!

Joshua, Absolutely Beautiful! I really like the colored starfish on the rocks. Fantastic full moon and the heron arriving just in time for you is superb! I'm heading to Oregon myself sometime next year. How was the weather during your trip?

I agree - a mighty fine image, especially with the heron... very serendipitous! Nice comp and nicely processed!

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Laurie, you will love Oregon on your trip next year. I would like to get back sometime again myself in the coming months. The weather was nice for the most part. This was the best sunrise/sunset of the trip due to some clouds usually blocking the horizon while I was there, but at least it was pretty warm. One day while I was on Agate Beach near Newport some really thick fog rolled in so I have a few nice images from that shoot too. I read it was very stormy during the few days right after I was there so I lucked out to get some decent light at all. Hope you have a good time when you go. Make sure to check out Cannon Beach, Cape Kiwanda, Seal Rocks and Bandon Beach. All have lots of opportunities to photograph dramatic seastacks like the ones in the foreground here.
That is an awesome image. The comp is great, the heron, moon and a little color in the sky - what a combo!
I think the first posted image looks pretty good, but the blues do look a little bit electric. Maybe just pull a little saturation out of the blues, as I think everything else looks pretty realistic. Of course, you would know best since you were there!
