One from today... Northern Owls are moving again. In Falsterbo in southern Sweden over 100 was captured and banded 2 nights ago, and today I found 3 in dayroost there. An invasion of this magnitude has not been seen here since 1967. Also raptors and other owls are moving south, it must be a very bad rodent-situation up north.
These tiny owls are very tame (this was taken with 100mm macro). They seem mostly to worry about the constantly overflying Sparrowhawks.
Thanks guys, - and David you know you are always welcome. I would be great if the owl turned up in my garden, but I'm afraid it won't like it with all the Waxwings

Really lovely looking shot Helge, as you say they must be really tame to get this close!

Smashing little fellow - I like his bowtie. It's a nice shot all round, but if it were mine I would just try and lighten the owl a little bit. It would be a shame to lose the sunshine in the bg but it just drags the eye away being so much brighter than the bird.
I wish I could get that close to an owl of any sort. Eric

He must have been hoping you'd hang around to keep the Sparrowhawks away
