Any Indiana State Parks worth visiting for Fall color?

It looks like a disappointing fall here in West Central Indiana (at least from what I can see). So disappointing, in fact, that we headed down to the Smokies this week and just returned. It really wan't any better down there, as it snowed and was very windy/cold. It almost seemed like winter instead of fall.

:frown:

I'm really bummed and was hoping to see some vibrant fall colors. Are there any Indiana parks worth visiting right now? I am desperate for anything at this stage! LOL

Clifty isn't bad but I have certainly seen it much better, the creeks and falls are completely dry as well, so to answer your question it might be worth your drive if you just want to get out. :wavey:

Amy, you might have been better off driving to southern MI instead of the Smokies. Actually I thought central IN had some decent colors last week and two weeks before that, but then again, I was driving down US 31 with no clue how it was away from the highway.

There is still some color in south and west MI...vivid reds and yellows depending on where you go.

Two weeks ago we had reservations to camp at Brown County SP and were so disappointed when we arrived that we turned around and drove 4 hours to Pokagon SP. Although there was some color there the wind was a steady 10-20 mph the whole week.

I'm just wrapping up a weekend in McCormick's Creek State Park near Spencer and it's really quite nice. Lots of yellows and a little red here and there and the weather has been fabulous. Trail's 7 and 10 are particularly good.

Hi, guys! Thanks for taking the time to make some suggestions.

Toni, I'm adding Michigan to my fall list next year. It shouldn't be too far to drive, and I'm betting there are some spectacular views up that way!

Mike - I was disappointed with Brown Co. last year as well. Your trip sounds identical to mine, but we stuck it out in the Smokies. I like McCormick's Creek, as well. I need to find some new stomping grounds!

Amy, the border is only about 2 hours away from Indy, so you could easily make a weekend of it. Let me know if you want or need any information next fall.
