Not much happening at the pool yet but still the old faithfuls. Bit cold in there today though I reckon.
Usual set up

That 'black' branch really shows up the powder blue/grey of the feathers nicely. Does your wife bring your dinner out to you? I reckon you live in that hide

The subtle colours of the plumage show up very nicely against the background. The oof twig on the left is a little distracting, but I am not sure what you could do about it.

Very nice John, i envy you if nuthatches are your regulars, it does looks like some dodgy water you've got there though, maybe it's just me but it looks like the surface of the water on the front and right of the log is higher that the rest of the water? a mistake in paintshop? really has me confused it's like an optical illusion

Thanks all

I think maybe its where I blurred the bit behind my sig.- which I often do - not sure. Does look odd though. That branch has been there about 5 years and all that's changed is that it's lost most of its moss. ! :frown:

BTW
Nuthatches are the one sure thing at the pool if nothing else.

I love the way the Nuthatch stands out so clearly from the darker surroundings here. The water coated perch and rocks along with the Autumn leaves make an excellent setting.
Nice pose too.

Hi John, very envious of this little fellow as I have never been able to photograph one :frown: Agree with Davids' comments, perhaps removing the stem 'might' help? :toast:
