Bobcat and owl
We had some awesome visitors in our backyard this weekend. First on Saturday while we were cutting some brush, our neighborhood bobcat came out for a stroll from under the neighbor's deck. There is a family of 6 living in the backyard this year.

Then on Sunday we had a small owl land in the tree behind out kitchen.

Northern Saw Whet Owl? You must live in an interesting place Mel.

We get a great variety of wildlife here for being inside city limits.

I believe it is a Saw Whet Owl.

I should also mention the wood pile is not in my yard, but my neighbors. Its a bit of a sore subject since we live in an area with wildfire risk, and he's setting up a bonfire.

Must be pretty neat to see this in your own backyard!

What a fantastic wildlife day for you, Mel. Either subject by itself would make my day. I'm surprised that the family of bobcats hasn't dispersed by now!

A bobcat living under the neighbors deck?? That would be pretty sweet to get to see that on a daily basis. Great shot of the owl too.

Neat visitors to your yard. Sure beats the squirrels that come to mine.

Very cool, Mel. I hope that you get a great bobcat series this winter with them so close. Wild cat shots are so rare with all of the game farms around. The saw-whet is awesome! I bet he barely paid any attention to you.

Cool! The owl shot is awesome. Sounds like you could charge admission to your backyard or have a workshop there. Looks like many forum members would love to drop by your place and bring their cameras!

I wouldn't stay in business long Josh. I know the bobcats are always around, but I only see them once every couple of months and often just a fleeting glimpse. I think they're hunting at night. They certainly aren't reliable enough to charge admission. This was the first time I've ever seen any owl, but we do have an interesting mix of birds in the hood.

Great shots, Mel! Love the owl, and I've been waiting for a Bobcat to stroll through my yard for a long time now - you're in a great spot!
