I know I've been MIA lately, but life and grandkids have caught up with me. We spent last week in St Louis babysitting the grandkids and catching their colds (which are still hanging on). While I was there I went to Schiller's and picked up a 50D. I wanted to sell my 20D and Hunt's photo offered me $100 for it. Schiller's gave me $300 as a trade-in !!!!
There was very little color in the area. I went to Busch Preserve and did some test shots and when I tried to download them to my MAC, I was told it was a unsupported format. The camera is set for RAW, I formatted the CF card, and downloaded the software that came with the body. I'm using a SanDisk firewire card reader. Any suggestions ????
Hopefully I will be back to posting as soon as I finish painting two rooms and figure out the download procedure for the 50D.
I've been looking at the postings and they are impressive...
Good work all.

I am eager to hear how you like the 50D. I tried to trade my 3 month old 40D for one at Fort Worth Camera, but they would only give me $600 for the 40D. It is worth more than that to me to keep it. So, no 50D yet. I look forward to seeing some of your images.

Hi Merle, I can sure relate to the life and grandkids parts of your post. Both keep getting in the way of my photography but only one of them is viewed as a problem. Congrats on the new body ... I was just telling Brad that if I were to buy another body I'd really like to upgrade my 10D to the 50D. It has some fluff that I don't need but the other features would be welcome indeed.
Can't help you with the tech problem but I imagine there are a couple of gents here that can. Good luck!

I found this thread at dpreview.com. I don't know if helps or not, Merle. Good luck, and enjoy your new toy :).

Thanks all for the comments. Wayne, I know you have a Caden about the same age as ours . spelled different thought, I think. When those little beggers are sick they only want to be held - just so they can cough in your face and share the cold...
Rob. Thanks for the thread. What I have found is that Canon released the 50D and the only software to process a Raw image was Canon's own package. Adobe has since released a plug-in raw processor but it is only for PS4 or Elements 6. It will not work with PS3. Adobe strikes again !!!! Fortunately I have Elements 6. Now alI have to do is try to find out how to get to the "root of the local disk" and copy the plug-in to it.
Until my IT son gets here at Thanksgiving - I may just be shooting large JPEG...

Thanks Rob. I appreciate the info. Downside is that I don't use Aperature or IPHOTO. I'll keep looking though. I have already spent to darn much time screwing with this - it takes the fun out of my new toy. JPEG it is until they come out with a decent fix..
