Thats a very nice image Phil. Beautifully muted background and cracking pose.

This is a very pleasing image, kind on the eye. It has a soft feel to it - and I mean soft in a positive way. It's definitely sharp so I think it must be the balance of tones and soft light that makes it so painting-like. My goldfinch shots all seem very contrasty in comparison.

Hi Phillip

Great pose, light and BG - minor nit the perch is a little busy and competes for your attention!

Nice shot Phil ,but I feel a horizontal would suit better.

A lovely shot of this very pretty little bird. -I like the softness of the feqathers yet there is plenty of detail.

Nicely controlled exposure, have to agree on the perch though...

Agree with Ian about the feel of the image - the bird is sharp but if feels smooth - can't find the right words for it... anyway it works well! Also agree with John that a landscape format may suit better. There've been loads of these about locally recently
