Since the winter season is starting up let's see some of the snow shots that can be had in our territory. I am really excited about the winter prospects this year and have an unused pair of snowshoes that I want to put to good use.

I'll go first, this is from October 6, I was driving down I-70 and pulled off the Copper Mountain exit when I saw the nice soft light on the mountains in the Mayflower Gulch area.

I've already posted this a while back, but it fits the theme so here it is again.

And here's one more of Mineral Creek near Silverton...

First snowfall of the season in Utah's Uinta Mts. This storm happened on the evening of August 31st.

A snowstorm the previous day left these dunes in central Utah under 8" of snow. A cool aspect of this image is if you look into the shadowed area you can see where a jack rabbit met it's demise by following it's tracks to where they stop at a hawk's wings impression.

Great work already - but just give the award to Guy. Best eagle shot since....ever!

Driving along hwy 126 between Deckers and Buffalo Creek I stopped and set up the 10D for some winter night shots. Took this at 9 o'clock at night vaguely seeing the moonlight reflected in the creek. Nice entries so far.

Great stuff everyone! Thanks for the inspiration. Every Fall I say how much I want to get more winter shots, and never seem to. Maybe this year!

Here's one from Mayflower Gulch a couple years ago. I'll definitely get up there this winter!

That's stunning, Brent!

I ain't gonna see snow for probably another couple of months yet.

I'll keep looking for a "real" image to post but when I saw the topic this month I immediately thought of this one. It's the outhouse at the Betty Bear hut in the White River National Forest last year.

I took this last fall hiking with my wife in Crested Butte. Funny thing is by the afternoon I was only wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

Nice snow shots guys. I, too, am excited to see what this winter brings.

This shot was taken at White Ranch Open Space this past February.

Missed participating last month and I'm a little slow this month. This one was taken during a very long cold spell during the 2006-2007 winter near Eleven Mile Reservoir. I really liked the fozen snow waves.

I like what everyone else has posted as well!

There's just something about the combination of red rock and snow...

The eagle shot is great, but the outhouse shot takes the cake!

Here's an old shot I'd forgotten about. If I were to clean up the glare and rotate CCW, it might be a usable shot...

Jennifer doing a little light shoveling on the best snow day EVER! I was secretly hoping that the snow above the garage would calve off!

Jamie,

Your Frosted Tree shot is incredible!! I love the black and white of the tree contrasted against the red rocks. Nicely done!!

Lots of good stuff posted since I last checked this thread! I'll slip one in under the wire, an old, rather noisy one from my first digital P&S:

Dawn in the Galisteo Basin, New Mexico, January 2007.

Really beautiful work here! I was hoping for more snow on the red rocks over the holiday but it stayed at the higher elevations for the most part.
