Made a quick trip to HB last Friday and was surprised to see this early juvenile bald eagle. I assume he's a fledgling from a nest nearby but it was encouraging to see him out this early in the year. Don't really expect to see eagles till December/January.
Have a great day!

Dave, you caught the eagle in a really nice position in this frame. Kansas has fledged over 300 bald eagles since a concerted effort to get them nesting in a select few lakes again. They are becoming much easier to spot around here come January / February. Who knows, I may just have to go "hunting" for some shots myself this winter. Thanks for sharing.

Great shot Dave. I like your angle, and the side light adds a bit of drama to the scene. Very nice!

Great pic. I was talking to a friend yesterday about making a run down there next month. Thanks for the shot. I'm no expert on avian photography (my friend is more of an expert) but I really like that the shot shows the bird splaying out his wingtips.
