Taken earlier this year in India. For me it's different, because it's more habitat/environment, something I often neglect in my 'style' and end up doing the norm, close, tight portrait. Probably the best animal I have ever had the opportunity to photograph contentwise, shame the only way to see them soon will be in books or photographs. Hope you like it

I love it, although the peace and tranquility of this shot belies the plight of the species it still works on so many more levels than the usual Tiger images.

Wonderful image! As it opened slowly from the top, I was looking at a rather nice landscape - then my jaw dropped! Just superb! Curiously, as I write, "year of the cat" is playing on radio 2.

That's an absolutely wonderful image, Stephen. A different perspective in more ways than one on these wonderful creatures.

Wow Steve this is so special one of your best shots to date I love the colours and the environment, everything about it is just lovely. This past week I have just been organizing a six week trip to just do tigers next November and now seeing this image I wish it was this november.
Great Shot

Hi Stephen
I totally agree with Nigel on this one, a fantastic image love everything about it.
Super shot.

that is a really nice image Stephen. I agree with all of the above comments.
I think Jeremy it is now possibly beyond hope, however fingers crossed. The saddest news is that it is the male lion that is closest to vanishing, even before the Tiger. Yes, it is a rather sad note on something so special, but if there is ever a chance to see these animals. Take it!
Thanks everyone, very much appreciate the comments.

I said it was one of your best when you showed me the print-cracking Tiger image

Beautiful Stephen. I love tigers and also count myself very lucky to have seen a number in the wild and some of them in splendid isolation. The light here is gorgeous and the tiger so sharp and vibrant, just a perfect shot. The setting looks like Ranthambhore?

Couldn't agree more with all that has been said really, an image to be treasured. Such a peaceful moment captured in time and I'm sure it was an absolute pleasure to view as well as photograph. Thank you for taking the time to share with us all.
