Last weekend I took a trip to southwest Kansas to Clark County.
The weather was great for November and the scenery was also great. The cottonwoods were about at their peak (a liitle late}, and the grasses were still a nice reddish brown. This is from one of the bluffs above the Lake.
I've really been enjoying all the great posts here this fall. It looks like fall has been extra colorful everywhere this year and there are many talented photographers in this group to capture it and share here.
Thanks for looking.

A photograph of many virtues. Color, depth, sweeping lines, beautiful detail. You did justice to a natural wonder.

Hey Ken, I like the soft tones of the grasses and the composition where the river enters the shot and leads you through it and then back out. The framing with the bluff on the right and the hills in the top contain the river and trees. Well done..

Wonderful, Ken. There's a lot to like in this image, the great colors, the sweeping river bed, the foreground detail and the rolling hills in the background. Very nice!

Wow, this is really beautiful Ken. Love your composition and the wonderful warm, soft light. Very nice!
You guys up there in Kansas have really been shooting some gorgeous scenes this fall. That area is at its best this time of year I think. I'd really like to get a few prairie shots - maybe Tallgrass Preserve this weekend - before the season is gone, but am concerned about the high winds yesterday, and if any of the cottonwoods still have leaves. Anyone have any thoughts/reports they'd like to share?

The dry riverbed draws the eye from the cliffs to the plains. It is a photo that truly speaks for itself. Nicely done.

Wonderful view in this shot Ken. The curved land with the look down to the trees. Very nicely done.
Bill, I would never discourage anyone from coming to Kansas this time of year. The winds yesterday were followed by a small amount of rain and the winds are strong again this morning. I just looked checked and they are 20mph from the north. In the last 3 days many trees have lost leaves and the color is fading and has faded in many if not most places. Usually with 20mph winds in town you can count on 30mph out on in the flint hills and prairie.
Just some info I thought I would pass on.
Excellent work, Ken. This is a gorgeous composition. I love the soft light, too. I could see the blacks being a little "blacker" to help accent the trees in the valley, but I certainly like it just fine as it is.
This is really beautiful. The composition is superb. Love the beautiful earthtones and golden light. Nice job!

I'm sorry Ken ... are you sure we're still in Kansas? Dorothy wouldn't recognize this place and neither would I but that needs to be remedied soon!
Great scene, perfectly composed in excellent light. What more could a photographer want? I love the cottonwoods circling through the dry riverbed, the play of shadow & light and the wonderful color of the fall grasses! Just excellent ... I'd be proud if it were mine!
