Lovely shot, I'm off to DN at the end of November. Im intending on using the same equip as you.
Did you find that set up more than adequate ? Ive been advised to use a UV filter on my 300 2.8, did you use one and is it a drop in filter ?
Cheers

Hi Trevor,
Anything goes really, you'll get plenty of shots at 200-300 and more at longer ranges, it depends what sorts of shots you're after and what sort of opportunities arise..
300 F2.8 with a 2x will be fine, it depends what sort of shots you want to get.. I'd recommend being flexible and using whatever you feel like. Nowadays I take a 17-40, 70-200, 300 F2.8 and 600 F4 and 2 bodies, each time I go out..
Make sure your kit is well wrapped up, if its very windy you will get lots of sand.
I'm not sure about using a drop in UV filter on a 300, its not something i've tried on that lens, it may be something others do/use but i've never seen any reason too.

Hello Tim
Great shot mate, I see you took your camera this time
A fine image, love the blissful look on the R/H seal. How big is this Donna Nook? My sister has recently moved to Lincolnshire and I'm supposed to be going up there for the first time myself this November but I'm wondering if I'll find room on the beach. Do we have to queue to get on or do we have to fight for the best spots? I'm getting visions of photographers strutting around like Stags and head butting each other!!!! I hope it isn't as crowded as the Farnes were.

Very poignant moment, this seems to be the way seals say hello, almost like dogs and backsides.. A good wiff of the breath on both counts and then they will often move on. You will have noticed that mothers also do that with pups, sniff them, then move onto the next if it isn't theirs..
LMAO at Roberts comment.. LOL!
Kind regards,
Brett
