Fork-tailed drongo
Another shot from my recent trip to Southern Africa. Took a few shots of this guy who flitted about between trees in front of the balcony of our cabin on the banks of the Limpopo River, just into Botswana. Of course we were back at the lodge because it was roasting in the mid-afternoon sun, hence the shadows over the body from the branches above.

40D + 120-300 + 2xTC @ 600mm, ISO 400, f6.3 for 1/800
Rested on beanbag on tabletop with cable release
Processed in Elements, cropped to about 2/3 of the original shot

All comments welcome

Unusual the way its clinging to the branch, shame about the shadows but can't be helped

I was in that area on holiday a few weeks back and try as I may failed to get a decent shot of one of these, so well done - great shot! :toast:

nicely composed. A slight shame about the shadows but I do like the light on the eye.

Light is a bit harsh Magnus, but it's a nice comp and as Matt said that eye is a good attention-grabber :wavey:
