A little color up close
From my neighborhood a couple of weeks ago. Was standing underneath the tree and zooming my lens into leaves here and there until I liked what I saw. Except for the highlight in the urc, I like the sense of depth and dimension.

d200, 105 macro on tripod; f 3.2, 1/500, ISO 125.

Would like to know what you think, so comments appreciated. Thanks.

For me there might not be a solid element to focus on. I'm just not sure about this one Catherine. It doesn't mean it's not a good photo, just different.

Love the color! The narrow DOF leads my eye to an odd focus on just those regions. While the shallow DOF lends depth, it leaves me wanting to resolve the entire leaf. Would it have been possible to use a different lense with a broader DOF?

I kind of like it. Intimate abstracts like this can be quite interesting.

If you are into this sort of thing, then you really must check out Michael Brown's site, Macro Art in Nature.

Thanks for the thoughtful replies, guys. Yes, I wish I had taken more shots of this same view, each shot with a deeper dof. I guess my mind was stuck on "shallow" that day. Anyway, as Erik said, I did get a different look out my experiment...

I like the focus just fine on this catherine, along with the lines and shapes. :)

I really like this one Catherine, finding it both inviting to the eye and pleasing for all that is both in and out of focus. After all where is it written that everything has to be "in focus, all the time?"
Nice colors, well done!

Confucious say-"Man striving to focus all of time..... is probably an optometrist!"
