Painted Hills + Introduction
Hi everyone. I'm new to pnwnp, though I have browsed the forums for quite a while. Some may know me from flickr.

This is a shot from a few weeks ago on a trip with Jesse Estes. Advice/C&C is very welcome as I am relatively new to photography.

Welcome Ryan! This is a perspective on the Painted Hills I haven't seen before and I'm really enjoying it. The color is intense (a little too much?) but beautiful with a violet that's amazing. I love the comp. Will be looking for more around the fora.

Ryan - the fresh and very welcome perspective of the area is great. You couldn't ask for better colors either. Welcome!

I like it, Ryan but I keep thinking that it's a bit dark.

Welcome Ryan to the forum and a GREAT family of photographers helping photographers. I like what you are trying to capture here. I agree with Mark Hudon in that I think it needs to be brightened up a bit. I also think the GND didn't do you a total favor. That far ridge line on the right is totally black and stands out compared to the other ridges.

The sky is awesome though so a GND is frequently a compromise. When you find yourself wanting to pull out a GND or two also try doing a few bracketed images too that could later be blended without the GND "features".

Since you are shooting digital never be afraid to try the untried and experiment. You paid all your film fees up front by investing in a DSLR so LEVERAGE the heck outa that! And oh HAVE FUN!!

Really nice first post. I love your comp. I agree with Catherine and Mark, just a bit too saturated (maybe it's the touch of purplish-blue that looks a little off?) and a bit too dark at the top, but those are just nits on a great photo.

Welcome!
