hi all, been on the sidelines for a few months now and decided to make my first post. there are lots of great shots on here so dont know if this fits in or not. the picture was taken in very dull light, was lucky to get away with it, thanks for looking.
I think you have done pretty well given the lighting conditions, the lack of light certainly hasn't helped the sharpness. Saying this, however, the composition seems pretty good, well done.

can you see the pic then i cant see it, just the code lol
you usually past the cod in the little box under you post when you write it, it should then work, you need to put the direct link on photobucket in that box - it should then show

Nice composition and colours Lea, and great separation from the background. I've found its worth upping the ISO on the 40D if you're struggling for shutter speed - had reasonable results on mine even at 1600. Think the trade-off for more noise but better sharpness is worth it if it comes to that
Oops, forgot to say welcome! Look forward to seeing more

Hi Lea. Great first post and a subject I've got nowhere near so well done on that front! As mentioned well composed too. There is a sharpening halo around the bill which can be sorted out easily. Don't know if you selectively sharpen the subject or not but if you do, subtract the selection by a couple of pixels.
Look forward to seeing more

Nice! I'm still on a high from seeing my first one last week. I guess this is a female judging by the red on the mandible (I've been reading ). My recollection is that the colours were more vivid and you might wish to increase the saturation or contrast a little - but then I've only ever seen one! Look forward to seeing more of your images.
