I remember when the D70 was released, it was touted as having the best color reproduction of any digital camera then available. I bought one in 2004 and since it was my first digital, I did not notice how good the color was since I had been shooting film. I have since added the D200 and now really notice the difference. Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve the color on my D200? I have tried every WB setting , even manual, Ihave adjusted the vividness, I use the 111 color group since the manual recommends that for nature and landscapes. I have tried all the adjustments, but can't get the reds and yellows and greens to pop as the images from the D70 do.I think I'm correct in saying both cameras have the ccd sensor. I can tell a difference in the cameras not only on the camera monitors but also on computer monitor. Help! Am I doing something wrong or is the D70 sensor that much better for color than the D200? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Ray Dove

Ray,
I have both the D200 and the D70 and the color reproduction on both look great to me.
Are you using a different lens on the D200 than you had on the D70?
For a little while I was using some Sigma lenses until I noticed the color was not as good using them as Nikon lenses.
I do not ever change to vivid color settings, my wb is on auto (unless I bump it accidentally).
I am using same lens on both cameras, NIkon. I had been using Adobe RGB on 200 but changed to SRGB just to see difference. I think I noticed a slight improvement in colors when switched to S RGB. I just came in from outside test shooting and it seems biggest problem is with yellow. I also noticed improvement when switched to auto WB, but yellows still have browinsh orange cast. Any more opinions? Ray

Ray, when doing your tests outside, did you manually reset the color settings (ie vivid) back to default?
I don't believe I did. I remember increasing the vividness last week in the Smokies when I was trying to make camera show true color of some yellow foilage I was shooting. I'll try that tomorrow. Ray
