When the sun rises over the Flint Hills you can be sure that there will be a lovely play of light and shadow cast from those early morning rays. Taken this chilly fall morning!

Nice soft lighting Wayne.

Gorgeous panorama! The prairies do wonderful things with light and you caught it just right!
Did you use a gradient ND filter on this shot?

That's really, really nice Wayne. Now I see what I missed by not going over to Tallgrass this weekend.
Good choice on the crop - I'll bet this will look great when its printed.

Daniel, no filter used at all. The single exposure was within the range of the histogram so I didn't expose separately for the sky. I did try the circ polarizer once but it introduced a weak-strong-weak effect across the sky so I left it off.
Bill this wasn't taken at Tallgrass. This location is just south of I-70 and east of the Konza Prairie. I did make it down to Tallgrass but wasn't all that pleased with the comps available from the public access sites. I'm trying to talk my wife into hiking the back country trail but even that is restricted to the middle of the day hours only.
Of course if I want to drop the $100 Special Use Permit application fee, get $1,000,000 of liability insurance I could get access to restricted areas ... of course I don't know what's out there until I do. Hummm

Wonderful expansive view Wayne. Very nice. To me I think the bigger this is printed the better it would be.

Wayne just a beautiful image. This is just my kind of pano. The light is great and a great sky to add to the scene. I would love to go photograph there sometime, let me know if we could perhaps meet up sometime in Kansas.

720 pixels doesn't do this image justice. The long shadows and morning light add a nice depth to the image. I'm with Gale on the meet-up, you obviously know some great locations in Kansas. I heard from a friend that there are some great abandoned homesites in west Kansas that would make great subjects.

Very beautiful pano, Wayne, I really like you take on this scene.
