It looks like there might be some snow in western NC Saturday night and Sunday. If the forecast holds, this would follow a week of some rain, especially Wednesday that might help the water flows. Does anyone have suggestions for locations if this plays out? I'm considering anywhere from the Roan area, the parkway, Big Creek in GSMPNP, Max Patch, Rocky Fork, etc. I'd probably leave Atlanta sometime Saturday and sleep in my 4WD truck Saturday night. In addition to suggesting locations, might anyone else want to meet up somewhere?

You might want to visit the "beauty spot" in the Unakas up above Erwin. I think Jerry did a nice shot there in the snow a few years back.
The problem of course, is that big brother closes all the roads when it snows. Can't say as I really blame them given the driving skills and vehicles of the general population, but walking from a gate on the Parkway is an option. I'd try bubbling springs (the waterfall near the top) on NC 215, or come up NC 276 and walk up towards Pounding Mill overlook on the Parkway if the gate is closed.
Also, any of the gaps along the Parkway offer some opportunity if the Parkway itself is closed.
Cheers,
Steve
