Here is the snapshot I was taking when the big buck came sneaking up behind me...

Good grief, that's a magnificent old cypress! I can see how this scene would stop anything in its tracks. And my, what a reflection...hope you'll get a chance to post some more Tim.

I'm sure your eyes are blurry from looking at all of your own images from this spot - one amazing place for sure, but there are many of them in the The Big Woods (this one just happens to be really easy to get to!). And as you know this is but one small portion of the scene - the rest of it was just as colorful but I kept staring at this one tree...

Words don't seem to describe it. Magnificent! I like the color, the reflection, the composition, and the grand old cypress. Brings back old memories.

I'm losing faith in my photography... This is wonderful! I can't wait to see the new Arkansas Fall Color book or whatever is next... Maybe next year I'll have something to post.

I'm sure you'll have plenty to post along the way Aaron! That fall picture book is going to be interesting to put together - it can't be just filled with page after page of incredible color, that is too boring. I've been trying to photograph a range of color and moods and detail - for instance the cypress knees instead of just the surrounding blazing cypress trees (but since they are in the reflection there is that fall connection). I will have a wide variety of fields of view from super macro of leaf detail to one like the Ouachita Pano that includes thousands of trees. I've been shooting fall color here for more than 30 years and while much of the book will be from this past month, it will also include some of my favorites from the ages - gosh, even some ancient ones that were shot on FILM!

At the moment the new ARKANSAS LANDSCAPES picture book is the most beautiful picture book ever published on Arkansas - the reproduction and quality of paper is just amazing to me - they did a really good job with the printing. And you should see the slide program on the big screen! (showing in Fayetteville and Harrison this week, Ft. Smith, Conway and Russellville next week - ARKANSAS LANDSCAPES slide program schedule)

See you at the slide show, Tim. I haven't had a chance to visit any bookstores to peek at your new book, so I'm really looking forward to seeing that too.

For anyone planning to go to the slide show Thursday at Giffels Auditorium at the U of A, it is located in Old Main. I would suggest that you get there early so as to allow yourself plenty of time (10-15 min) to find a parking place, and to walk to Old Main (the walk through the arboretum on the east side is a beautiful stroll indeed!). Most of the faculty/staff parking lots are available to the public after 5:00. But some are not, and they WILL write you a ticket, and the fine is not cheap.

"Here is the snapshot I was taking " ... well this mere mortal would give anything to be able to take a "snapshot" this good! Of course that's where the difference lies, I don't see myself waist deep in a swamp to get the perfect composition and light. The extra mile ...

Mother nature gave us her best and you knew exactly what to do with it ... just stunning photography! And the best thing of all ... I get to tell people I know him!

<<<<<it can't be just filled with page after page of incredible color, that is too boring.>>>>>

I would respectfully submit that if they are all like this one, they could never be boring.

Now I see what the kids mean when they type OMG!!!!!!!

Another great image. I won't be in town to take in your slideshow but I picked up your book at BN this week. The Roark Bluff pano with the hay bales is my favorite in the book. Really great images and every photog. in the state should pick it up.

Great stuff, Tim. All of it. I must get down to the Big Woods.
