My wife and I plan to visit Bosque Del Apache over Christmas break. Any idea what can expect to see there then? If anyone from here will be in the area at that time, it would be great to meet them.
Thanks,

You will see 12,634 Sandhill Cranes; 30,762 Snow Geese; 34,749 Ducks; 5 Road Runners; 2 Coyotes; 237 Canon cameras; 230 Nikon Cameras; 2 Bald Eagles (WAAAAYYY off in the distance); 467 shivering photographers; incredible sunsets and sunrises; your own breath; and 2 Green Chile enchiladas (briefly)! And possibly a fat guy in a red suite.
Sorry, couldn't resist!
Christmas will be a great time to visit the Bosque and you will see (and photograph) lots!! Enjoy!

Christmas is a great time of year to visit Bosque Del Apache. As Phillip noted.... there will be plenty of birds. For the winter season, Christmas is great. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

November tends to be the busiest month for workshops, bringing lots of photographers, and has the Festival of Cranes. The Christmas season generally has fewer photographers, but more "visitors" taking day trips from Albuquerque and other places. The bird count continues to build through December, so you will have plenty of subjects. The green chile cheeseburger with fries is highly recommended at Manny's Buckhorn (just the right amount of grease ) and the breakfast burritos at Acosta's are great. Both are in San Antonio.

Thanks for the info, David - particularly the eateries. Will give the restaurants a shot!
