Richland Creek A.D.
Well it was after dark when I made this image near the Richland Creek Campground three weekends ago. I can thank Gale for this shot because he refused to leave until all the light was gone. The long exposure gave this an alomst dream like quality that I like.

You're welcome Wayne. (I think) Sorry not used to having others along while I shoot. I have had a few close calls from staying to late a bad habit of mine or is it I'm still not sure. Really peaceful Wayne. That's why we carry a tripod around anyway so we can do those long exposures even if it's just for fun.

I've always liked long exposures of the water, and this one is really nice Wayne. The softness really enhances the scene - very nice mood.

I can vouch for Gale's shooting till dark-thirty. After I could no longer feel my toes from the cold water at Goose Lake Saturday afternoon, I made a quick drive down to Hog Thief Lake hoping for a moon shot. When I returned, Gale had just finished. He was smart to bring some waders along.

Gale, I truly meant to "Thank You" for wanting to stay late. I generally have no qualms about staying in a place until the light is gone but I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't too keen on trying to hike out through that boulder field in the dark.

I know this image doesn't stack up against the spectular colors of the shots you Arkansas gents have been posting but I liked the result. When looking at images like this it's hard for the viewer to comprehend that I could barely see my hand in front of my face when this image was made.

Thanks! :wavey:

It's all good Wayne. Your right that boulder garden was pretty rough even in the daylight. You caught some beautiful colors in this image I think. I didn't notice this image was 83 seconds, that is a long one. Those long exposures can really bring out som great colors sometimes. This pool really was beautiful I wish we had all taken our cameras when we went to scout out richland that day the reflections were really neat.

I always carry a headlamp in my pack for such situations - it helps the hike out. Nice and peaceful, Wayne - very nice!

Wayne, very nice shot. Is this the one you took hiding behind the bushes?

I guess there were a few shrubs that I walked past to get to this spot but it was just downstream a few yards from where you were shooting.

You and Gale were talking about Richland Creek's kayaking qualities but for me, this would be my kind of section ... just floating aimlessly along without a care in the world.

A very peaceful image, Wayne, and the dreaminess of the water does set it apart.
