Zion seems to be the hot topic of late. The colors were past prime when we got to Zion last week but there were still localized places that were incredible. This was the redest darned thing I think I have ever seen. I had a hard time scanning this and getting the colors to match the original tranny, kept getting a terrible magenta cast in the scan. This is about as close to the original as I could get. I desaturated the reds a bit but think it could be toned down another notch or two. I am curious what y'all think.

Jason,
Wow, sure looks like you managed to still catch just a little bit of color eh? I really like the composition with the arrangement of small trunks and the full frame of red <maple leaves?>
Looking at this on my monitor, a couple things stand out. I think you could pull back on the magenta a bit which is showing in the trunks (the reds are fine.) And perhaps you could pull back on the "lights" (in Tony K's masking world) as the trunks almost appear to have been lit by a little fill flash. Otherwise, I really like that you've filled the frame with all the leaves and color.
I'm extremely jealous that you could make a little side trip from SoCal... what, about 5 hours?

I agree with Lon. The reds are great but the branches look too magenta and bright.

Nice!!!!! I would agree with Lon and Dan. Pull back the magenta in the trunks and tone them down a touch. You also might consider a top crop to cut out the OOF red leaves in the far background, but that is really minor. Nice image, I like it. It should make a great print.
Aren't the reds of the maples in Zion amazing? I posted my "Red" image, and thought everyone would figure I went nuts with the saturation slider. Those trees are just damn red!
Jason, a really wonderful capture. I can imagine your task at hand in trying to scan this Velvia red tranny too. All the techincal suggestions have been made already, and I find they will no doubt enhance this great shot even more.
Much obliged gentlemen! I definitely see the magenta in the trunks on this monitor as well. I think my eyes got desensitized to anything in the red spectrum last night after all the tweaks I had to make

Jason,
Not much more to say after the suggestions made, except that I concur. That is some serious red.

Yep, neutralize the red color cast on those trunks a bit and you definitely got a winner.

Wow, Jason, that is very vibrant. No nits here.
