Face to Face
This was a great blue heron at the marsh edge that let me get within a few yards. I took this on my knees in a ditch. HH, kneeling, F7.1, 1/800, ISO 800 EQ, D300 w 80mm - 400mm VR @ 80mm. Any comments welcome!

This was taken at the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge, my "go to" place for wading bird photos.

Nice shot, Philip.

Are they getting ready to nest in there? GBH nesting typically starts here in a couple of weeks.

Good and sharp on the bird, but the lower right hand corner is soft and distracts my eye. I might would try a crop and get the softness out. - SandyLee

Nice shot of a tricky subject. These fellas, as well as the great egrets are tricky. I find that some of them just don't care of you get real close for a shot, but most are very shy.

Thanks, all. Sandy, I left room for the virtual feet. I cropped all I could, I think.
