I'm Stumped
Well, the color version wasnt so great, this was better, but still looking for input. Thanks! F/11 at iso 50 with five stop nd, canon 5d, 4 secs at 24mm. (the color version didnt show much detail in the lower left as did the b/w.) (also, i was standing on a huge log to try and get as high as i could to get rid of the background stuff, i cropped alot of the top out, but was worried about being to close to the top of the stump.)

Man, you know what really grabs my attention are the white grasses in the darker background. Som awesome abstracts are there waiting to be captured. Stump isn't knocking me out - a bit too close to the top of the frame. But the Right side of the frame really interests me.

The lower 7/8 does it for me! The stump is great, the grasses are great but the thin strip above the stump takes away from the rest's simplicity and impact.

I like this, too, Cliff. The nits need not be repeated, but I think this still has great potential with some more work in post processing if you're so inclined. My thoughts in looking at it were to add canvas to the top and paint in more of whatever is up there and then perhaps (?) to give the lines in the stump more umph.
You've been coming up with some really neat shots lately.

The motion in the grasses are really wonderful. The stump, to me is ok
Cool image Cliff!

I like it a lot, Cliff. Keeps the eye moving around yet has just enough emphasis on the stump amidst the blurred grasses.

I love the movement of the grass and the B&W works well but I'm not so sure about the positioning of the stump. It looks like its trying to point to the upper left part of the frame right on the edge of the photo. Compositionally it may have been more interesting with the stump in the lower right side of the frame leading into the photo. But thats just my opinion and overall I think its a great photo with a really serene feel to it.

What you really needed was a cherry picker, so that you could have had a higher angle to keep the lower 7/8 while moving the stump a little lower  . Really though, the lower part is outstanding and what you did with the grass is very attractive.

I am with the others..the stump placment is screaming to occupy the lower left corner.

Other than that...absolutly amazing work.

Love the soft motion of the grass.
