I think this is one of your best John. The colours are just superb and the the background in general matches the bird, which you have caught in a great pose. Not sure if the that's a bit of bike tyre(?!) or something natural. Might be tempted to lose it, but that's very minor - superb image.

Nice shot John and one of my many target species for the coming months.
Again, a nice shot John, but can you vary your POV, or is it fixed?

Thanks all.
Stephen No not really- for several reasons. The whole set up is too well established. The hide is sunk into the ground as it is and flooding is a problem anyway.
I don't like reflections too much that come with water and low angles as I've explained many times. The ground slopes down to the small pool and the bank gives that awful out of focus line if I go much lower. The pool was designed for stuff being at the back or half way but they dont all oblige ! The hide is double skinned timber and lined three times, and piled up with large logs at the front. At my age it will stay as it is !.
Ian- well spotted !! Its the liner !! Must get that seen too. Floods washed it up.
Cheers

It's strange, the liner provides a parallel line to the birds tale - sorry doesn't mean anything just deep thought !
Like all your work great high standard and detail in particularly, however, as much as the bg colours work with the subject, the reflections are a little off putting for my liking but as you say it must be quite a task to move your whole set up just to eliminate them !
nice work !

Looks like a reluctant swimmer getting into the English Channel in early May - it knows what it wants to do, but can't quite pluck up the courage. A delightful shot, pond liner included.
