Pine grosbeak
I have only seen these birds twice on my winter trips to Finland. the first time, 10 years ago and the last time, last winter. They are very nomadic and can suddenly appear. This image was take along a road in Oulu, Finland last winter and i recall this day as being very bright and very cold (minus 25). For me one of the most beautiful "sub arctic" bird species.

I like the way the bird is positioned on the perch in this shot and then the way it is presented in the frame.
Good stuff

I really like the way the perch is coming down from the top of the frame, makes it much more unusual and different from the normal left or right perches :toast:

Agree about the perch, and the contrast between the b/g and the bird really make it stand out. Nice one Rene.

Seen one once Rene and had to go to Shetland to witness it.
Pity I wasnt into cameras at the time as it just posed brilliantly within close proximity.
Great looking bird and that overhanging branch goes really well with it. :toast:
