I found this hedgehog wandering around the leaves on my lawn yesterday morning. It only stayed for a few minutes so I only got a handful of shots. Am I right in thinking that it's not a good sign to see one out during the day? I suspect it must have been hungry so I left out some catfood but it didn't come back to get it.

Good one Matt.
Must be that couple of warm nights that did it.

lovely image, the colours are great, dont like the leaf behind it to the left but not much you can do

Hedgehogs shouldn't really be out in the day at the moment. Anything over 500g will probably be ok, anything less than that would probably benefit from a trip to the local wildlife rescue to be fed up and released in the Spring.
PS - nice image!

Lovely shot, great colours. Agree with what Gary says. You could keep putting food out at night to help him out too.

There is a lovely warm autumn glow about this image. He looks quite happy and contented - pity he disappeared so quickly but a good job you took advantage of the situation. Cliff
