Lon took the trouble to remind me during last month's gathering at the Mobil Gas Station, that I had recently mentioned somewhere on CANP that "aspens are overrated." Although I don't remember ever saying something like that, surprisingly I found myself in agreement with that sentiment. So on my next trip out to the east-side, I decided to work on a mini-series just to prove that whoever had said those words was indeed right.
Don't we ever get enough of these? It's hard to focus in on just one or even a few elements about the sierra aspens that are the big draw, but it surely seems to work on all of us. These are all just wonderful Anil. I find them to be great examples of how just even small slices of these trees or leaves can make such fine prints, as seen here in your provided examples of the "Aspen Study".

Anil,
My wife claims that my memory doesn't always work, so I'd be hard pressed to challenge you that I said that to you.... You sure it was me? Maybe Preston or one of the dozens of people hanging around at the time. I know it can get confusing in a large group.
And like I tell my wife - if you didn't remember it and I don't remember it - It didn't happen.
A very nice aspen series. My favorite is #2 for it's simple, yet bold, composition. #3 is beautiful as well and I think would make for a great print. And although I like them all, #4 would be the weakest of the series, IMHO. The reason is because it's not as coherent a comp as the others and although many times a chaotic image will work for form, etc., this ones a little to random for me. Hope that's not too harsh.
Great work overall Anil. And really, I'm sorry if I accused you of saying something you didn't...

I think your actual quote said that fall color was overrated. I dont think you specifically targeted aspen though since the area in question was the Sierra it was probably assumed to mean aspen.

Very nice series Anil. My favorite is #3. The sidelighting is very evident and bold in the trunks or boles(finally found out what a bole was).
I couldn't imagine someone saying that after driving so many hours and spending that much time there unless they just came to talk.

Nice series, but I am not sure why you bothered. Aspens are over-rated. That is why I have so many aspen shots in my portfolio. If A=B and B=C, then my portfolio is over-rated, but that could not posssssibly be the case.
I would love to see the images bigger on your website. I find myself wanting to see more of the detail.
