If anyone has the time and inclination, the Cascade Lakes highway near Bend is closed for the winter at Dutchman flats but there isn't enough snow or ice on the road to stop you from Mountain biking in to some of the lakes. I just returned from a trip out there to Sparks lake and it was mighty fun flying down the big hills with headlamps pre-sunrise and the whole road to ourselves. Not quite as much fun pedaling back out but a great workout.
Watch out for Deer, Elk and ice patches if you go. The road was clear enough for bikes all the way to the Atkeson trail as of Sunday and Sparks was looking beautiful with lots of frost on the rocks and foliage as well as some ice but not enough to obscure nice reflections of South Sister. The more southerly position of the sun provided some nice light on both South Sister and Brokentop.
Have fun and enjoy the solitude if you go.

Did you get any nice shots? If so, bring them on.

I won't have time to go through them all for some time. When I do, I'll post something in ESS. Feel free to comment on them there.
