In my never ending quest to combine my photography with the things that I love; it has come to my attention that the Mt. Baker ski area does not have a mountain photography program. For those that are unaware, the Mt. Baker ski area hold the world record for the most snowfall ever in one season. It's a very popular mountain that lies in the shadow of one of the most photographed mountains in the US if not the world; Mt. Shuksan. I can think of multiple places where a mountain photographer could set up throughout the resort.
Does anyone have any experience with being a mountain photographer? Or does anyone have any suggestions on how to properly approach the the managers? Should I try to get on the mountain staff payroll, or should i approach them as more of an independent photographer who would like to possibly set up a few signs and run it all myself?
thanks,
-Rylan

I have a co-worker who has done this type of thing in Colorado...send me your email address and I'll ask him to get in touch with you. I believe he worked as part of the resort staff, but I don't know for sure.

Talked to my friend...he mentioned that a lot of the resorts contract with a local photo agency. Seems to vary by resort if they hire staff photogs or contract it out. Best way would be to approach the resort and ask for whoever heads up guest services.
