Red Deer Stag crossing a stream
There has been a few interesting discussions on the forum of late regarding captive/wild, cloning/manipulation and ethics and morality, which has been good and very interesting to hear peoples views. I am very interested in the cloning/manipulation topics as I think this is important in nature photography as lets be honest you can do amazing things in the computer. Some people have suggested we post the raw as well to see of any work done but this still means making a jpeg compression so is still open to debate so you will just have to take my word for it. This image of a Red Deer Stag crossing this small stream took me about seven weeks to get right, I went more or less everyday but only really got two occaisions when everything came together. The image is full frame, nothing has been cloned in or out, the light is natural light and the deer has not been baited in anyway. All I have done in the computer is tweak the curves and got rid of a few dust bunnies. The location is well known.

Canon 1D MK11, 70-200mm Lens, 1.4x Convertor, 1/640, F4, ISO 200

Comment and Critique most welcome

Obviously worth the wait - lots of atmosphere and the light is great.

Very 'nice' as usual Danny, especially with the ducks in the BG. Good to see something different when it comes to these fellows. :toast: :toast:

I don't know what all the fuss is about this cloning lark, seems to have started with someone asking a simple question on an image. As for the cheating side of cloning, who said that! All images are altered in some way, dust spots, levels the list goes on an on. If your no good at cloning, or your image needs loads of work it can be easly spotted.

Just get on with taking images I say and if someone asks a question, give them an answer instead of starting a boring debate.....

Sorry about that Danny but I feel you don't need to explain everything about your image due to someone getting the hump about a simple question that was asked...

I'd would have cloned out the ducks though  Only joking.... Nice work..

Hi Danny

Definately worth the wait - very very nice. If I was going to print it I would crop a little off the bottom of the frame!

Well worth all the effort put into getting this image. A different view from the normal images posted here. Great light and I like the way all the water droplets show up giving the sense of movement.

I would have cloned out the deer and cropped the duck...what am i on about......
I like it as it is and also do not see the big fuzz about enhancing images......
