Red deer, morning light
Hi all,

I'm sure that some of you remember that one good morning we had during the rut? I took this image just as the sun was rising - fantastic warm light that lasted all of 10 minutes or so. This stag was a bit hormonal, and was thrashing the bracken, just stopping to decide whether I was worth paying attention to or not before deciding not and continuing. This is in the southern well known deer haunt!

Techs: D300, 500 on Gitzo/Wimberley Mk2, ISO 400, F4.5 @ 1/250. PP in Capture NX2 and PS CS2 (levels, sharpening). Full frame.

Thanks for looking. C & C welcome!

Hi Mark,

Love the mood of the image! Not sure about the foreground though (Probably just me).

very nice lighting and the foliage amongst his antlers sets the image off very well.

Hi Mark,

I really like the mood / feel of this one.
The OOF foreground doesn't bother me on this particular image. I think it adds to the environment although I know some will disagree.

Cheers

Like the central composition on this image, it works well. Well exposed with the harsh side lighting keeping plenty of detail in the shadow area. The oof foilage frames the deer nicely in my opinion.
