Chevron Barracuda, I think, taken at Ras Um Sid in the Gulf of Aqaba in the late 1980s. Used to be huge schoals of these around that area then, before all the development began. Techs lost in the mists of time but would have been taken on a Nik V with Subawider and Sunpak strobe. Ektachrome 100 film. Scanned twice on a dimage scan 5400 to hold the hghlight detail in the closest fish.

Lovely shot. Like the way they are expanding to the left.
Like a red Arrows display. (Well nearly )

Great image, I really like the composition, with the fish almost leaving the frame!

I can remember fishing for these on an Arab dhow, during a 1 year tour at RAF Sharjah, Trucial States 1966. One of the best fish I've ever eaten, delicious. Great feeling of motion, superb to see.

Hi John
This is a great image, I like the light to dark gradient change and the small fish swimming in the opposite direction really adds.
They look like big Mackerel mmmmmmmm mackerel.

Cool shot John like the change in colour and the feeling of the shoal passing you by - funny how birds need space to fly into but having the fish almost leaving the frame works so well

nice image...a couple of years ago there were still about this many barracuda on ras um sid....but no massive shoals....seems even wildlife photgraphers like to eat fish...
i wonder what sort of war would happen on this forum if someone posted how much they liked eating barn owls.........
