Waxwing
We have now had the Waxwings here for 3 weeks, and only few Rowan-berries are left. Got this today in grey and dull weather, but tomorrow the snow comes, so hopefully they are still around!

If he eats any more of them berries he's going to pop, I think the overcast light has helped with the detail.

Great work :toast:

Hi Helge

These birds seem to photograph well in any light - cracking image!

Hi Helge,

They certainly lose some weight by the time they have flown to the UK !
Rest assured "your" Waxwings are being well cared for here.

Looks great and your timing to release the shutter is spot on.

Best regards

This is a species I would love to find on my doorstep or in Gloucestershire. I do like the balancing of the berry in the beak, well timed. :toast:

Only downside though is the reds look a bit bright especially on the wing, maybe its my monitor

Great shot Helge :toast:

Inspite of your dull grey weather this ones come out well Helge, in fact that grey BG sets the bird & berries off nicely. :toast:

Fantastic bird caught at just the right moment with the berry in its beak. Agree with Major about the background. Not sure on the berries on the left as they draw my eye slightly away from the subject. Lovely image though and one that I would be happy to have taken.

I hope he can still fly! Have never seen one - hope to put that right soon. Lovely image.

The dull light and BG set the bright plumage and berries off perfectly Helge, very nice indeed. Maybe just a pity the whole of the dangling bunch of berries wouldn't fit in the frame
