Yes, this is very different. I like it and it helps me get a better idea of yet another bird I've yet to see. That's an impressive tail.

Hi John
A slightly different view - I like it!

hehe John..
Great stuff like all you're other takes on these guys!
I like the perch running right through the frame and into the berries, and such a curious expression on Nuthatch!

Thanks Nutty lovers !
I,ve got about 7 of these guys coming to the garden in front of the room window at the moment. Its getting awkward getting shots now as they are scrapping a lot !

I've never seen more than 2 at a time, 7 must be some sight. I like the unusual viewpoint here, we don't normally get to see their undercarriage. A nice shot.

A very nice shot of a special bird. Can I ask a question I'm full of them? How do you deal with the compensation for the fact that your shot is through a glass window. My efforts through glass just don't work for me more often than not. I think I'm right in saying my camera is focusing on the glass rather than the subject.

Thanks all

There,s no problem with glass but it has to be a good piece.. Most of mine are through the room window where the large pane is not plate glass but quite good quality. (Plate glass is excellent.)The kitchen glass is a different story. Its older and a has flaws in it at different spots. It is impossible to get a clear image through them even though the camera gets in focus (else it wouldn't fire )
Back to the room window - the lens is about 18 inches from the glass and so any bits of dirt etc, are focussed out of existence. I use a black felt cloth stretched across (with a hole for the lens )which acts as a blind and reflection baffle.
Hope that helps.
