I shot this a couple weeks ago along the central Oregon coast. This is one of my favorite beach locations. It has endless opportunities. I've gotten mixxed reviews on this image so please feel free to share critiques and comments. Thanks!

Nothing mixed about it from me. This is very nice. I really like the way your eye is lead to the color.

Ryan, this is right up my alley. whoever gave you a mixed review needs to get their eyes fixed. The only thing that I can whine about is that the shadow side of the FG rocks has been opened up a little much. Burn them back down a tad, and its perect.

I think this is top notch work, Ryan. If you haven't done so already, you should post this on the ESS section of NPN - they'll love it.

The flow of water creates a great leading line, well composed, great color in the sky - what's not to like?

Hey David, I believe I met you at Palouse Falls last month or so. Thanks for the comments!

Yep, pretty timely little spot of color on the horizon there. Very strong image when combined with that swirl of water action in the middle of the frame.

Great color and composition; the hint of green in the water is very beneficial. The mood is great. No mixed feelings here - it's excellent work.

I think beach shots can be fairly difficult and I think you nailed this one. I like the light in the background, yes there have been more spectacular skies, but the mood created by the light is very good. One of the way I judge images is how does my eye travel throughout it, and it keeps looking around your image in a pleasant manner. I hope this makes sense. Also, I think the exposure of the rocks and the overall comp is excellent. I'd be curious to hear the nits.
I do have one sincere criticism: I almost agree with Paul. I should have been the one to have been the one to have taken this image!

I love the way my eye was transported through the swirls to the sunset colors. Great comp!! Nice detail on rocks. My only suggestion is to balance the exposure on rocks...some seem unnaturally brighter than others. Ken S

Mixed reviews? Seriously? Nothing mixed about my view of this-- it's a dandy! Love how the pattern in the sky is repeated in the water. I can even see a bit of magenta and then some ghostly green in the water-- YUM! Print it big, hang it, and boast!

Thanks Catherine! I just ran off a 40inch print the other day, it looks splendid big!
