I took this shot from the beach in Pass Christian, MS. Throughout October, we had some really crisp sunrises, where the sun would break the horizon and just seem to hang there like a soft red ball for the longest time. I took advantage of it and did a little experimenting with my 400mm/1.5 converter. Someone suggested that I clean up the birds on the horizon, as they look like dust specks.
I have a sad story to go along with this shot too. I usually back up my photos every month or so, but I had a hard drive crash just after taking this shot, so my raw file was lost. Luckily I saved a quick version on photobucket for web posting.
I like it, JT. It's well-balanced with big, bold color. Sorry to hear about your lost RAW file and HD crash :(

I like it also. It's a toss up between this one and the other you posted. I agree the sunrise colors are great. I really like the one pole leaning to the right. I always save my files on two different drives - hard drive and portable at the same time. - SandyLee

Nice shot Jason. I really like how the sun is framed by the pelicans and posts.

Great shot! Well balanced. Finally I find another photographer likes to use long lense. Just wonder how would it look if a pelican is in the center of the sun.
