Jay
Had a couple of hours in my sons new woodland hide set up yesterday and had a great time with jays- up to 5 down at a time – so expect a glut of Garrulus shots. I thought this was quite a lucky grab except for the fact that an acorn would have been better ! Oh the joys of continuous shooting settings.
My lad has a thing for metal perches too !!
Not biting sharp but cheerful on a cold day . Great to be in a different hide too. Apart from cropping (about 70% of the full frame) this is as it came out of the camera.
Downsized and one dose of sharpening for this site (Paint Shop Pro)
D200 800 ISO
Sigma 100- 300mm on about 200 mm
160th @ f7
Exposure EV down I stop , Everything else normal.
Cheers

Great moment John but I do find there is a lot going on in this image.
I cannot believe how the small twig falls in line with the claw of the bird giving the effect of an extended rear claw. What are the chances of repeating that one?
Major.

I know. !
I really am surprised no one has suggested taking it out !
It must have stuck to the birds feet when it left the ground.

Hi John,
Did you suggest CLONING!
Sorry I couldn't resist!
Great timing! Really great timing! Love the way it is mid-air as the mouth is open! It's like he tossed it - awesome!
