I recently purchased two Kingston 8GB SDHC cards for use with my Canon G10. Cards work great in the camera, but when I try to read them directly with the built-in SD card reader on my PC or laptop, they aren't recognized (don't appear in the drive list). The pc is about 2 yrs old, the laptop about 3, so pre-dating SDHC technology.
I've found quite a bit of info about Windows hotfixes for this, but results seem to vary, and seem to focus on expanding reading capacity to cards >4GB, but only if the reader was SDHC compatible to begin with.
Before experimenting with a new service pack or numerous hotfixes, I thought I'd see if anyone here has run into this and solved it. I can download images directly from the camera, but prefer using the built-in readers.
Thanks!

Rick, I have the exact problem, also with a G10. My research shows that both of my 3 year old readers won't support SDHC so I'm planning on buying a new reader soon. The reader we just purchased at work does read my cards so I'm confident the issue is with my old readers.

SDHC is not compatible with SD card readers. You need the USB adapter to download from a SDHC card. SanDisk was giving the readers with the cards a month or so ago.
