Roe Buck
1D MKIII, 600mm + 1.4, 1/125, F5.6, Tripod

One of the Roe Bucks I photographed in this years rut.

Only just got round to looking through the files tonight, 3 months after I took them, wish I`d done it sooner now! Must make a New Years resolution to convert and edit images sooner and keep on top of it........yeah like thats gonna happen! :frown:

Good stuff !
I reckon dropping the gamma to about 85 gives this a bit more "guts"

Hi Brian :wavey:

I do like this, for me its a great shot showing a surprised/inquisitive stance. Lots of detail showing a pleasant environment.

Nice shot, I love the flowery foreground and grass, quite natural looking. Nice comp and cute expression too.

Brightness maybe is a tad on the hot side, slightly washed out looking. Perhaps some tweaking of the levels and contrast could improve it!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the comments.

Now that I`ve looked at it via my desk top pc, I can see its definitly too bright! easily overcome though.

It was converted on my laptop which hasn`t been calibrated since new 3 months ago, done it know and the results are a little darker! serves me right for ignoring the reminders!

My first posting here!

Nice image Brian.

When I look at pictures of deer I'm afraid that my attention is focussed on the subject rather than the composition of the image. Besides, having been a serious digital photographer for only a few months I don't feel that I'm the best judge of image quality.

Apology made, let me say that's a young buck in his prime but, golly, you can see he's lost a lot of weight around his haunches.

Er, was he stamping his front left at you? I keep going back to the different heights of his front knees.

Hi Pete,

Welcome to UKNP!

No, he was just stood there, thinking about it he may have been still walking towards me can`t remember, but no feet stamping.
