Savannah National Wildlife Refuge
This is a close by place that is always good for a photo of one thing or another—vistas, indigenous varieties of wading birds, migratory birds small to large, alligators, the occasional deer, eagles, varieties of hawks, etc. It is also a twenty minute drive from Savannah across the river—a whole other type of photo op, from beach to street. I have never been to SNWR that I didn't come back with some good photo or another.

I would love to be involved in a group photo shoot, possibly this coming Spring (March or April). Some of you "hill walkers" might like a change of scenery. I am bringing this up now, in the hopes that something might come of it by then. Any suggestions would be most welcomed.

The photo is just a sample of the mix available at the refuge.

Hey Philip,

Probably count me in. I'm just down in Brunswick and have wanted to go there after seeing something on it at the Birding Show just held recently on Jekyll.

This hill walker would be interested in a change of scenery and bird. Count me interested.

I will be in touch with the Chief ranger out there. There may be a chance of a guided tour.

I have been approached by a board member of Wilderness Southeast to join their board. I agreed to look at it, to see if it held any interest for me. After doing a little research today, I am not only definitely interested (I know two of the guides and at least one board member), but I think a guided tour of a day's duration might be of interest to SENP. The cost is reasonable and these folks have a good reputation. The two guides I know are not only knowledgeable, but are members of my church. I sing in the choir with one!

I think we can probably put together a memorable outing, if we can get possibly 6 people committed. With that number, a full day of a boat tour with picnic lunch (their most expensive sortie) would cost each person about $82. They also conduct walking and riding tours. The main point, however, is that they will design the tour to meet the needs of the group. Here is a link to their website. See what you think. Anyone who is interested, let me know at phodgkins@comcast.net

I'd like to make it, if I am free at the time. Count me in - tentatively.

I have been by the refuge a few times, but never been able to stop and check it out. I would be interested in seeing it.
