With elderly parents, an 8 year old, and two hours of commute time each day, I don't get to participate on the forum as much as I'd like. I'm really impressed with the submissions for the contest this year...makes it hard to select the top 3. I wasn't able to take time to enter this year, but took this image 10/1/08 while looking for some decent light during my few days near Crested Butte. Would like to know your opinion on the comp and processing.
Thanks for your input.

I really like the composition, and you got some beautiful light with some fine clouds.
Cropping the right side to lose those errant trees makes this a stronger composition, IMO.
I find the saturation to be just a bit too strong (vivid).
Aside from that, this is a real winner!

Beautiful image! Like the warm light and the reflection.

Beautiful light and reflection. These kinds of images are right up my alley. I agree with John's crop suggestion.

Nice image. Would also crop right side.

Yeah, just those little trees on the right, not that big one. I think this looks really nice, and post-processing looks right on.

Good for you! Glad you were able to get out and enjoy an obviously fine sunset.
I really like the clouds in this one, the way they almost fan out from the peak in the middle of the image. The right side doesn't bother me much, but that may be because my eyes are too busy admiring the rest of the image. Saturation looks fine on this monitor.
If anything, the asymmetry of the line of grass in the foreground catches my attention. My eye wants to see the right side recede off in the distance like the left side does. Probably not much you can do about that, though.

Beautiful capture. The glow on the mountain is really nice and the reflection couldn't be any clearer. I agree with the cropping suggestion. There is also a small cyan and red-looking road sign or something above the lake on the left side that could be cloned out. This is a very nice image Rand!
Great light, well captured - crop those few trees on the far R and it's a winner.

Fanatastic scene and strong capture! I'd also crop, and maybe lighten the foreground grasses if it could be done without making the water unevenly bright.

I like it and I have to agree with the others about the crop as that is my only nit. Nice work.

Another vote for a crop from the right and lightening the foreground grasses just a bit. This is really nice though.
