Fiery sunset
This isn't a type of image I usually try and take, but a couple nights ago the opportunity presented itself so I gave it a try. Several gulls were soaring above the waters of Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area, seen only as silhouettes against the fiery clouds of a beautiful sunset. I was still shooting at 500mm, and hadn't turned down the ISO yet. I cloned out a couple spots where the sun was coming through the clouds, and moved the bird back just a little. 50D, ISO 1600, f/7.1, 1/8000. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

WOW>>>>>>The sharp lines of the gull are impressive for ISO 1600. The soft texture of the clouds with the sense of a "wave motion" makes this look like it was shot somewhere on the Central Coast. Great shot Rob. Now I see what my camera is capable of, if I only work at it.

Another amazing sky Rob! The silhouette of the gull adds some very nice contrast and a key element in this shot. Well executed shot!

Neat image Rob. The high magnification isolates an intense portion of the sky.

Rob: The size of the gull in the frame is just right. Very nicely done.>=))>
