I just read on The Digital Picture that Canon has begun shipping to the US today. I hope that also applies to us shivering Northerners.
Note: Adobe has also announced the release of Camera RAW 5.2 with updates for the 5D Mk II. But get this, it is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than CS4!!

Gee I wonder why they did that! $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Gotta get it out there in stores in time for the Thanksgiving shopping weekend!

Excellent point, Steve. And before the ongoing economic meltdown has us all too poor to afford it.

That's always been the case when a camera is released after the release of a new version of PS. Convert the RAW files to DNG format and you can use an earlier version of PS.

I ordered the dam camera a while age. It will be funny to see people going out and buying it and using it before I even get mine.

As John said, par for the course. The top execs from Adobe, the camera makers and the computer companies all sat down to their 4-martini lunch to figure out how best to force us to keep up with the Jones'.
As well as DNG, the DPP software Canon includes with the 5D2 will convert from RAW to JPEG or TIFF. Just one more addition to the workflow that costs time in order to save money required to upgrade software/hardware.
My computer and OS are old enough now that not even the Canon DPP software from the 5D2 would load and run. Probably the same is true with a late enough version of DNG, as well, so if I bought the 5D2 I'd be shooting jpeg until I coughed up enough dough for a computer with enough muscle to run the latest OS.
Oh well, there's always the 5D.

Sorry, you're right John. I must have had RAW codec on my mine. Apologies to Adobe.

The new ACR (4.6, I think?) supports 5DMk2, and is compatible with CS3.

That isn't correct.
According to Adobe, ACR 5.2 is the version that supports the 5D II, and it only integrates with CS4 as Greg mentioned earlier.

Whoops, sorry. It has the D700, not the 5D2... got my mid-end FF bodies mixed up. John is indeed correct - no 5D2 support on ACR 4.6.
All I can say is - Adobe sure makes it hard on their legit customers by forcing them to upgrade whether or not they want to do so.
