In dire straits with my printer. My Epson Stylus PHOTO R200 which has given stirling service for three and a half years has just decided to go haywire on me today when I desperately need to turn out some prints.
It printed a perfectly good print last night, fired it up today and the prints were extremely dark and 'muddy' looking. Have tried cleaning the head and have tried unistalling then reinstalling the software but it is still the same. Any ideas or is it likely to have packed up for good? (yet more expense if I have to buy another!).

Hi Robert
I had one of those I think !
I presume you've done allthe test prints with head cleaning etc. ? Are all the colours printing ?
Those funny coloured graph thingies.
Cheers

Yes, I've tried that John and everything seems OK.

I hate to state the obvious but hoping it helps...

1) I would create a block colour picture where each colour is a printer ink colour and see if they are all playing ball - or one is partly or flowing incorrectly blocked
2) Down load a test picture (one from this forum) and see if the problem still occurs - if not it is the monitor calibration.

but I think you are about to take advantage of the missing 2.5%

Robert
The graphy print out should tell you if all the colours are squirting through OK If not ---
Bin it ,and get an Epson with a CIS for about £60. It will save you a lot of money. ( for example 100 centiltres of ink for £2 !- compare that to a cartridge !!!! )
I can give you a rep. supplier address.
Cheers
John.

Thanks for the advice folks. I have been thinking a lot about this problem and will try something else I thought of which is something that Toms reply has triggered (if it works I'm going to be looking a bit sheepish as it will once again prove my techno muppetry!!) but in the meanwhile John if you can e-mail those details I'd be grateful.
