Not sure if any of you are into Flora abstracts so I thought I would post this one from this morning. This is from a trumpet tree bloom in our front garden. The flowers are about 8-10 inches long and difficult to shoot in their entirety so I go looking for extracts. Punched up the color a wee bit but my main thrust was to capture the line of the petal edge. All comments welcome.>=))>

Hi Bill, as you post and comment here in the coming months you'll come to know that CSNP has a wealth of talented photographers who are particularly adept at shooting landscapes. While we may not see a bunch of flora posted here these guys & gals can shoot 'em with the best.
This is an interesting abstract and there are things I like about it. The diagonal dark lines at UR & LL and wavy edge of the bloom are nice. The nearly monochrome color here and the narrow range of contrast is holding it back some IMO.
It's great to have you here at CSNP. Looking forward to many, many more posts from you!

Hey Bill, Nice post. I like the tonalities of the shot and the darker tones in the two corners. A more prominent line along the edge of the petal would really set it off.
Like Wayne said - we do a lot of landscapes - but flora is done often and done well. Welcome aboard CSNP>

Hi Bill. Beautiful image. I'm glad you posted it here.. it gives me another idea to try some day. I really like the narrow palette of this shot. For some reason my eye is drawn to the very UL, so you might try cropping the left so that the line of the petal edge his the left edge of the photo and see if you like it more that way or not.

Interesting image. I think you did a fine job capturing the edge of the flower, and the edge flows well through the image. The large OOF area in the UR draws my attention though. I can't decide if it really bothers me or not, considering the abstract nature of the image.
