Lovely Jay shot John, not so keen on the perch and would like to see the bird a bit more to the right....although with the bit of the perch sticking up on the left wouldnt know if that would work that well......

Hi John,

Pity about the "metalwork" but a great shot of the Jay. Cliff

I think the metal work is fine, on a personal not I guess I would like to see more of a side view to bring some colour into the shot.

Nice image nonetheless John

Lovely picture of a bird which I find very wary. I think it would look even better with some of the negative space on the right cropped away. No problem with the perch.

i think this may work as a portrait crop possibly even showing half of the post in the picture?

Metal is great and very much a part of the environment.

Thanks all.
Interesting to see peoples different views on the perch etc.
The bodged up fence is my son's fault !! I think he's still in his heavy metal days.

Very nice John - I like the perch, adds a feeling of country character, and great colours.

Another nice one! I agree the perch is fine as the colours and textures blend in nicely. I also agree about losing the negative space on the right, but it would be an unusual format then.

I also like the perch, it's nicely weathered. It's a lovely shot, although this composition might have been stronger if the Jay was looking in the other direction.

Lovely shot!! I really like the perch, the colours go nicely with the colours on the Jay! The background is great too. There's something about this image that really draws my eye to the bird, really great shot. Great detail too.

Quite like the rusty metalwork myself - echoes the plumage a bit. I think the head turn is the right way from my point of view but a pity he wouldn't sidle down the rod a bit to the right. Still a very nice shot
