Maybe by Sunday night or for sure Monday night, the clouds should be gone and, just after sunset, you should be able to view in the west a tight triangle composed of Venus, Jupiter, and a crescent Moon. Here is a reference photo without the moon: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap081129.html

Are you suggesting that I'd be better off standing out in the cold on Monday night shooting the moon instead of watching Monday Night Football? Hummm, rare astrological occurance vs football on every day of the fall!

Wayne, don't worry, you can catch the astrological event between 5 pm and 6 pm, eat dinner, read the paper, and catch the football game.

Don

The 2 planets and the moon are still quite far apart tonight. I'll try and post a pic from tonight later, showing all 3. It was taken around 1745.

And mine ... long after sunset (7:00 pm). Hard to see in this web version but there are thin clouds that were blocking the trio a great deal of the time. There are even tiny star bursts around Jupiter & Venus but I doubt you can see them here.
