Dante's View - Death Valley National Park
Just returned from a week in Death Valley on Thanksgiving Day. I have enough time to start to run the B/W film before hitting the road again. Shot 74 sheets of color. But I'll have to wait to see those. Conditions were amazing. I have only been to DV once before in 1994 and wish I didnt wait this long to return. Here are a couple from the 'soup'.

Interesting thing about this shot is we first saw a tiny rattlesnake and then my mom pointed out a tarantula that was slowly mosy-ing over to my open camera bag. I am still having nightmares thinking of putting on the darkcloth only to find a furry friendly visitor inside. Youch.

These are all simply amazing Richie. The texture in all 3 is eye-popping.

What the heck. One more. Now I really do have to pack!! No more film for a few weeks. Sigh.

Death Valley gets on average about 2 inches of rain a year. The night before this shot was taken it rained on us in the campground about 3-4 hours. So they must have gotten about half their yearly supply.

Nice Richie, I love death valley and I hope to make it back there sometime soon. DV is probably one of my favorite national parks.

Looks like you had some fun shooting.

As mentioned above, the texture and composition in these shots are terrific. I hope you shot that last scene in color as I bet that would be stunning as well.

That's what I'm talkin' about! Classic Richie V. for sure. I like 'em all, but the first and last are fantastic!

Beautiful tonal gradations, exposures, compositions. If Ansel were still alive, he'd be looking over his shoulder.
